The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January 2019 amounted to US$14.31 billion, an increase of 2.9% from US$13.91 billion recorded in January 2018.  Total exports declined by 1.8% to US$5.28 billion in January 2019 from US$5.37 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 5.85% from US$8.54 billion in January 2018 to US$9.03 billion in January 2019.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$3.76 billion deficit in January 2019 higher than the US$3.16 billion deficit during the same period in 2018.
