The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) warns the public against emails received from the bogus email account “consumer.reports@dti.gov.ph.” The DTI has no existing email account under this name. This is called Email Spoofing and is a fraudulent practice that attempts to obtain sensitive information from a user.

Do not open any correspondence received from said email address. It has been confirmed to contain a type of Trojan virus. Immediately tag it as “junk” or “spam” and block the sender.
