Mabuhay po ang Go Negosyo!

Distinguished guest and speakers Magandang hapon po sa inyong lahat.
Unang-una, a big congratulations sa milestone po ng Go Negosyo. 15 years, parang kailan lang na tayo po ay naging bahagi and we’re very fortunate na naging bahagi in the beginning of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Go Negosyo. Isa pong pribilehiyo, isang malaking karangalan na naging parte po ako ng Go Negosyo and now they are celebrating their 15th anniversary through the Angat Lahat Anniversary Week.
Isa pong a bit of nostalgia for me, dahil naalala ko pa talaga ang beginnings of Go Negosyo when this was being planned. ‘Yung adbokasiya po na really in the end, it’s all about serving others. It’s not about the founder, the Go Negosyo, or the people in it, but it’s really how do we serve others, the less fortunate.
Ayun po ‘yung pinakamaganda para po sa akin na naging objective at naging role ng Go Negosyo. It’s about helping other people help themselves. It’s teaching them how to fish and not just giving them fish.
Ito po ay isang mantra na maraming sumusunod niyan. Especially ngayon po I’m part of the Department of Trade and Industry, it’s all about empowering people, it’s about helping others help themselves.
In light of empowerment and when I was listening to the previous speaker Captain Raman, he was talking about mindset. Frankly if you talk about empowering oneself, Go Negosyo really focus first on the mindset. Kaya po sa DTI, we have this 7Ms that is the framework of Micro SME Development.
I believe that we really have to emphasize the importance of changing the core, the mindset of the entrepreneur, and Captain Raman was talking about changing mindset.
Mindset is the one that “can-do” magic in your life. ‘Yung magic po na naiisip ng karaniwang Pilipino na marami pong sumubok nito ay nakakita ng malaking pagbabago sa kanilang sarili, sa kanilang pamumuhay, sa kanilang kabuhayan. And in doing so, malaki ang natulong sa kanilang pamilya. But mindset is not enough.
We also heard the previous speaker, again, talking about the tools and the how-to. Tamang-tama ayan po ang second “M” ng DTI, ‘yan po ang Mastery na tinatawag. Ito po ang “how-to.” The entrepreneurship tools and opportunities seeking the scanning, the marketing, the financial literacy, the preparation of business plan, lahat po iyan “how-to.”
It’s really important as we try to share the know-how in entrepreneurship, from mindset to mastery. But hindi po diyan nagtatapos, the Go Negosyo, together now with DTI, is doing beyond the mindset and mastery. We are also cooperating when it comes to mentorship, the 3rd M. Dito po, napakaraming program po ng DTI and Go Negosyo.
Unang-una po diyan ay ‘yung Kapatid Mentor ME program, jointly cooperated by our two institutions, using basically the mindset and mastery formula. Nagkakaroon po tayo ng free entrepreneurship education and mentorship na talagang nag-eempower po sa ating mga entrepreneurs.
Ang principle po talaga that we follow here in DTI, and of course sa Go Negosyo, is really creating a country of smarter entrepreneurs. Hindi lamang country of entrepreneurs, kung hindi may alam, may magandang motivation, tamang mindset, tamang mastery and it’s really important that we are able to share all these know-hows.
We are very happy na ang ating partnership ay tuloy-tuloy po sa mindset, mastery and mentoring functions ng DTI.
Papasok din po sa larangan ng Money, the other end, ang DTI. Kaya po mayroon po tayong micro financing assistance, tulad po ngayon in the time of pandemic. Our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte really made sure na matulungan natin ang mga maliliit na negosyante na maka-survive.
It’s the survival, because we all hear that the MSMEs account for 99.6% (practically all) for enterprises registered. It could even be higher ‘pag isinama pa natin ‘yung not registered. With 99.6%, SMEs account for almost 70% of jobs. So, its very important that we are able to support and help all the MSMEs in the world and really allow them to survive so that we will be able to save jobs.
It is the jobs that will create more income and more demand for products, whether consumer products or services na dinedemand ng economy sa system. Ito po ang very critical in restimulating the demand in the economy and re-starting the economy.
So, it’s really important po ‘yung role po na pag support sa mga Micro SMEs. Ang DTI, ang SB Corporation ay nagpapautang po ngayon and we invite more to utilize. We have a new fund of PHP10 billion that we are focusing for MSMEs in the Philippines.
MSMEs na puwedeng tourism related. We have PHP6 billion of the PHP10 billion allocated for the MSMEs in the tourism business. And MSMEs in general, nandiyan po ‘yung PHP4 billion allocation.
We invite others. We streamlined the process, we made it very easy at lahat po online application. Mayroon automaticity, ibig sabihin medyo automatic as long as registered po for more than 1 year ‘yung negosyo ay makaka-avail na po ng loan na ito. Kung may BIR tax return na-submit noong 2018 and 2019, ‘yun po ay mag-validate lamang at automatic na puwedeng pagbigyan ng loan.
Again, mabilisan po dahil pandemic, ito po ang suporta ng ating Pangulo, ng ating gobyerno para po sa micro-financing for SMEs.
Nandiyan din po ang program ng DTI, lalo na sa pagbibigay ng machines shared service. Dahil po hindi naman po kayang bumili ng makina or equipments ang bawat isang entrepreneurs. So, we have this system that is a shared facility wherein normally, binibigay po sa mga cooperatives. Para sa maraming member entrepreneurs ang makikinabang po dito. It could be sewing machines, weaving machines, pag-roast ng mga coffee, pag-process po ng mga prutas—juice or powder, and many more machines na magagamit po ng mga maliliit na negosyante.
We also offer mga models of negosyo, mga tried and tested. Tulad po ng mga franchising that are certified franchise models given by our partner institutions like Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc. (AFFI). Ito po ‘yung mag gagabay sa mga may potential na mga negosyante na gustong kumuha na ng existing tried and tested models of business.
If mayroon nang mga produkto, the DTI will be helping in the marketing, in providing market para po sa inyong mga produkto. Kaya nandiyan ang the 7th M, the Market. Aside from teaching you the know-how in marketing, this will also include brand building, designing your product, your packaging, etc., pati po ang placement nito.
Whether sa Go Lokal store or OTOP hubs, or even now in virtual trade fairs and online sites. Para ang mga mMSMEs natuturuan po natin ng digitalization at ng e-commerce.
In doing that, the products or services of the MSMEs are given the right and needed exposure. Para mas lumakas ang kanilang benta at mas malayo at mas maraming maabot na market.
Ganyan po ang modelo po ng DTI and we’re just happy that again, our partner Go Negosyo, ang aking pinanggalingan, ay nag-celebrate na ng 15 years of empowering the nation. 15 years empowering all entrepreneurs dito po sa ating bansa, nabibigyan po ng pag-asa at higit sa lahat nabibigyan ng kaalaman. The right mindset, the right know-how, para sa ikalalaki ng pag-umpisa nila ng business and the further growth of their business models.
The DTI is committed to supporting all MSMEs in partnership with Go Negosyo. Our country in the light of the pandemic, DTI is at the forefront of wanting to reopen the economy, opening up many sectors. Tayo po ang proponent sa IATF na unti-unti, gradually, safely, ay mabuksan ang mas marami pang sector kada buwan. Kada lingo ay marami pong binubuksan na mga sector para po marami ang makabalik sa trabaho, marami nang MSMEs ang payagan na ulit magnegosyo.
Yes, it’s still a challenging pandemic, but the good news po ang ating mga economic indicators, there are good signs of recovery. Even our GDP size ng ating economy from before number 2, number 3 tayo in the region fastest growing economy. Growing at 6% to 7% every year. Of course, ngayong pandemic bumagsak po iyan sa -16.5%, but based on the last reading, bumaba na ‘yung decline niya to -11.5%. We are hoping mag-single digit sa 4th quarter of this year as we re-open the economy.
We have seen also the unemployment rate na dating 5% lumala sa 17.7 %. But now it’s at 10% and again we will expect that to be in the single digit during the next few days. We are safely reopening many more sectors and we will continue to do so
Export po natin, 50% of last year, now it’s up 2% of positive growth. Hindi na po negative in the latest reading, so unti-unti pong nakakabalik ang ekonomiya. Of course, we all know we are not back to the pre-covid levels, but if we continue to reopen more sectors and if we continue to allow our kababayans na makalabas with lesser restrictions, we can only see and expect further improvement and recovery of our economy.
Ka-partner din po ng ating private sector ang Go Negosyo, tulad po ng mga ibang iba nating kasamang na malalaking kompanya at conglomerate sa paghanap ng mga vaccines. Ayan po ay pangako rin ng ating Pangulong Duterte, na pangungunahan mabakunahan ang mga mahihirap once may available vaccine po na accepted na sa buong mundo at may clearance po at certification din ng FDA.
Again, we thank our partners in the private sector sa pag-cooperate with the government. Tulad po ng nangyari noong nakaraan sa pag-reopen ng more testing facilities, PCR testing, and now in getting the vaccine once available—once there are already many certified vaccines that will be made available.
We’re very happy that we are continuing to build the nation. We continue to partner with Go Negosyo to promote inclusive growth. Papalakihin ang maraming MSMEs so that hindi parati silang SMEs, sila ang magiging future Jollibee or future San Miguel.
So that inclusive growth will really need the prosperity through entrepreneurship. Ang ating MSME will serve as the engine for the country’s economic growth and development as we all adjust to the new normal.
Siyempre ang gusto ng ating Presidente hindi lang “New Normal,” kung hindi “Better Normal” in the post-COVID future. So that ang buhay po ng ating mga kababayan will be better and have a more comfortable quality of life, tulad po ng pangako ng ating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Again, congratulations to Go Negosyo ang ating mga kasama po diyan, sa atin pong mga MSMEs, sa atin pong mga mentors, mga malalaking negosyo na behind the Go Negosyo na nage-empower sa ating mga kababayan,
