Ladies and gentlemen, a good day to you all!

We hope that the “Philippine Flavours” video has shown you all the endless possibilities for celebrating Filipino food and beverage products—not just in the Hong Kong market but in the whole of China.

As with all traded goods from the Philippines, our Filipino products benefit from this kind of promotional exposure. That’s why the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)– through our Philippine Trade and Investment Center (or PTIC) in Hong Kong—constantly encourage our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to strive for excellence and innovation. This is so that they can bring their food and beverage products to global markets, and attract the attention of foreign importers and consumers.

Presently, our Overseas Filipino Investors (or OFIs) in Hong Kong remain as the strongest advocates of Filipino food and beverages. As of 24 June 2021, there are more than 200,000 OFIs in the Hong Kong-SAR alone. We look forward to our OFIs in Hong Kong using more of our Filipino products when providing for the food and beverage requirements of your employers and their families. It is through this simple act of pride and patriotism that you are able to shine a light on Filipino food and beverage products, which indirectly contributes to our homeland’s economic development.

We’d also like you to know that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte continues to keep you in his heart, as he continues to push for a department-level government agency to address the concerns and needs of all overseas Filipinos.

On the other hand, we hope that the video presented will encourage importers and re-exporters to import Filipino products in Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. The Philippines—being located around 1,300 kilometers away from Hong Kong—is your best location to source fresh and quality consumable products for the Hong Kong market. Likewise, the similarities of the citizens of the Philippines and Hong Kong are not only seen in their resilient personalities, but also in the similarity of their tastes for food and beverages.

This year, the Philippines will be participating in the Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s Food Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 12 – 16 August 2021. We call on all our OFIs and friends in the Hong Kong business sector to visit the Philippine booth to find out more about the different Filipino products that interest you, or you can use as a substitute for ingredients in the Hong Kong market.

On a last note, we’d like to mention that Philippine food is a good representation of our country because despite the diverse cultures throughout the islands, food also unites us—especially when we share it with others. We hope that we can share our food with you today.

Again, thank you to all the participants that had watched our video today, mabuhay, and mm goi sai!
