Ongoing training on pandesal-making

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO—The Department of Trade and Industry 12 (DTI-12) through its Cotabato Satellite Office conducts skills training on pandesal making to the residents of Brgy. Kalanganan 2, Cotabato City.

The one-day skills training is part of DTI’s Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) and in support to the community project of Brgy. Kalanganan 2.

The intervention is a result of the needs analysis study conducted by DTI through its Negosyo Center Cotabato where it turned out that residents of the said barangay do not have local access to bread and pastry products especially pandesal and must need to traverse more than five kilometers to the city’s commercial center to buy one.

Supporting the initiative are the Local Government Unit of Cotabato City through its Office of the City Mayor-Investment Promotion Division, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority 12.

As a next step, DTI-12 will be providing fabricated oven and other baking tools to the barangay and plans to organize the business as a community product.
