Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Surigao del Norte (SDN) kicked off the month of June through the simultaneous distribution of the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo Sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) livelihood kits in the municipalities of Dapa, Del Carmen, Socorro, San Francisco, and Surigao City, all in the province of Surigao del Norte on 3 June.

The simultaneous distribution to four municipalities was facilitated by the senior business counsellors and the support staff of Negosyo Center Dapa, Del Carmen, San Francisco (Anao-aon), Socorro, and Surigao City. Also aiding the distribution are the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Unit head, augment staff from DTI-SDN provincial office, and representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) of these municipalities, to create smooth and unhampered conduct of the distribution to all beneficiaries.

A total of forty (40) existing MSMEs benefitted from the distribution of livelihood kits, including but not limited to, sari-sari store items, food processing business, bakeshop, street food and coconut trading, and for public utility tricycle drivers.

LSP-NSB is a program of DTI that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships between relevant local government units and the agency.

Further, it is designed to provide livelihood opportunities and support the existing micro-enterprises affected by natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters arising from epidemics and pandemics. It provides aid to the MSMEs in order to cope and bounce back from the negative effects of the pandemic on the economy. The program also aims to develop awareness about the agency’s programs and services and expand its reach to the business sector.♦
