The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), has awarded 23 Philippine companies for their exceptional export performance during the National Export Congress (NEC) on December 7, 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.

The awardees were recognized for their competitiveness, track record, excellence and innovation in the delivery of services, and continued contributions to the country’s export revenue. Through the recognition, the DTI acknowledges the hard work of the country’s top exporters, who serve as a testament to the strong partnership between the public and the private sector in pursuing the Philippines’ inclusive export development.

DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, Trade and Investments Promotion Group (TIPG) Undersecretary Nora Terrado, EMB Director Senen Perlada, and Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (Philexport) President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. conferred the awards on top performing Philippine exporters.

This year’s Hall of Fame Awardees are Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction (HHIC) Philippines Inc. for machinery and transport equipment, Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation for minerals, and Shin-Etsu Magnetics Philippines for electronic equipment and parts. For the last three years, they have been consistently awarded as Top Export Performers.

Given the Top Sectoral Awards were Amkor Technology Philippines Inc. for electronics, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction (HHIC) Philippines Inc. for machinery and transport equipment, LEAR Automotive (SVCS) Netherlands for motor vehicle parts (ignition wiring sets), Petron Corporation for chemicals, New Davao Oil Mill Inc. for coconut oil, and SCAD Services PTE Ltd. for woodcrafts and furniture.

Other awardees were Takata (Philippines) Corporation for automotive parts, components, and accessories, Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation for minerals, Shin-Etsu Magnetics Philippines for electronic equipment & parts, Sumifru (Philippines) Corporation for fresh fruits (bananas), L&T International Group Philippines Inc. for apparel; and Nestle Philippines Inc. for processed food and beverages.

Meanwhile, the Excellence Award for Services was conferred to Toon City Animation (Morph Animation Inc.) for animation services, Golden ABC Inc. (Penshoppe Brand) for franchising services, GameOps Inc. for game development services, ADEC Innovations for IT-BPM services (knowledge process outsourcing on environmental management solutions), and Orange & Bronze Software Labs Inc. for IT services (software development).

The Award for Services are conferred on exporters who have shown ideal contribution to the industry and exhibited excellence in their respective fields.

Also, the Most Outstanding RIPPLES Plus Award was given to exporters based on Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) ranking of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in recognition of their outstanding international success in penetrating global markets.

Designed to promote excellence and inspire the whole exporting community, the awards were conferred to Peter Paul Philippine Corporation for Luzon, Profood International Corporation for Visayas, and Malagos Agri-Ventures Corporation for Mindanao.

The NEC 2018 aims to increase the reach of Filipino exporters, aside from urging them to keep on improving and innovating. According to PSA data, the Philippines’ total export sales reflected an increase of 3.1 % from $5.98 billion in August 2017 to $6.16 billion in August 2018. The increase was primarily posted by cathodes and sections of cathodes at 79.0 %, fresh bananas at 46.9 %, mineral products at 21.8 %, electronic products at 7 %, other manufactured goods at 6.4 %, as well as electronic equipment and parts at 5.4 %.♦
