CABUYAO CITY, LAGUNA – Eight micro-entrepreneurs affected by the Taal phreatic activity and relatives of two officers’ killed in police operations (KIPO) received livelihood packages under the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office on Monday, 21 September, this City.  

The awarding ceremony was led by DTI Calabarzon Regional Director Marilou Quinco-Toledo, assisted by DTI-Laguna Chief Trade and Industry Development Specialist Marcelina Alcantara and Cabuyao LGU representative Nerikka Manasan.  

Toledo mentioned in her speech that the program is part of DTI’s mandate to develop micro, small and medium enterprises towards business growth and export opportunities. “Kami sa DTI, we give importance sa mga nangangarap na maging negosyante (We, DTI, give importance to those who aspire to start their own businesses)”, Toledo said.

She also encouraged the beneficiaries to use the best of their abilities to expand their respective businesses and serve as role models to their communities. The beneficiaries are residents of Cabuyao and Calamba cities in Laguna. 

Each of them received various livelihood kits amounting to no less than five thousand pesos, depending on their choice of business. The kits distributed include grocery items for sari-sari stores and eateries, assorted cloth for a dress shop, office supplies for a printing shop, and agricultural tools for fruit farms.  

Ms. Natalia Barlizo, recipient of the PPG printing shop package, was grateful for being chosen as one of beneficiaries. “Makakatulong po talaga sa shop, lalo na po ngayon at magpapasukan na. (The livelihood kit would be a great help in my business, especially now that another school year is about to start)”, she said. 

Aside from livelihood kit packages, the beneficiaries on their start-up businesses, including widowed wives of PO3 Eduardo Cruz and PO2 Wilfredo Pondoc, Jr., have secured their DTI Business Name Registration Certificates at DTI Negosyo Center Cabuyao City located at the Retail Plaza, Cabuyao City, Laguna. 

This is the 6th DTI PPG livelihood kit distribution in Laguna. ♦
