A virtual forum dubbed as “Understanding Smart Contact Tracing for Safer Communities and Faster Business Recovery” will be streaming on September 11, 2020 (Friday) at 2:00 in the afternoon Philippine Standard Time via Zoom and FB Live.

This online event is a joint endeavor of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI)-Visayas, the various Chambers in Region VII and the Rotary.

DTI 7 Assistant Regional Director Maria Elena Arbon said that the main goal of the webinar is to encourage businesses to adopt more effective and safer tech solutions for health monitoring.

The current manual method of using pen and paper entails risks and does not inspire the confidence of the general public, she explained.

The chat show Ready to Recover (R2R) this coming Friday discusses the Science of Contact Tracing, Contact Tracing Technologies/Tools, Baguio City Contact Tracing Best Practice, and Data Privacy Issues in Contact Tracing.

Dir. Arbon revealed that the webinar is the first of 3 online events under DTI’s Ready to Recover (R2R) banner. “R2R is an online program initiated by the DTI7 to jumpstart the economic rebuilding and recovery process.,” she said. “The second event will be an online Pitch Party of curated contact tracing apps to inform businesses on the tech options that are available. The third in the series will be a DIY workshop to teach business establishments on how to set up their own digital contact tracing system. “

Arbon pointed out that community involvement is critical to the program’s success and hopes that the webinar will spark a business sector-led movement for the adoption of smarter and better contact tracing methods.
