Makati City – The Department of Trade and Industry – Competitiveness and Innovation Group (DTI-CIG) will hold virtually online the Inclusive Innovation Conference (IIC) 2021 on 15 December, Wednesday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, via Zoom.
With the theme, “Enriching the Philippine Innovation Culture: The Path to Global Leadership,” the IIC 2021 will focus on the nexus of “innovation” and “culture” by highlighting ways of engendering an “innovation culture” as a means to solidify the innovation and entrepreneurial mindset as building blocks to customer-centric or user-centric innovation. Culture is seen as part of a long-term strategy for developing capacities in innovation and competitiveness as well as bolstering growth prospects, notwithstanding prevailing macroeconomic conditions.
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez will keynote the Conference to discuss the Philippine innovation journey and the future of the country’s industries. Policy keynote speeches will be delivered by Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato De La Peña and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua.
This year’s Conference will feature presentations that will shed light on how our mindset should be wired in terms of pursuing innovation and utilizing regional resources with the aim of bringing products and services to global markets; how culture, social norms, historical experiences, environment, geography, and social capital affect innovation in various settings; the challenges and prospects in human capital development for Industry 4.0, especially in the Philippine context; and experiences of other countries in transforming their overall environment in preparation for the future of the workforce.
Among the confirmed speakers for the IIC 2021 are Anya Eldan of Israel Innovation Authority, renowned innovator, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist Dado Banatao, former UP Chancellor Dr. Michael Tan, Dr. Anthony Sales of the DOST-Region XI, and PCCI President Ambassador Benedicto Yujuico. They will be joined by various experts from the government, industry, and the academe.
