MAKATI CITY – Continuing the efforts geared towards the resurgence of the manufacturing sector, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), with the support of the Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) will hold the Manufacturing Summit 2020 on 9-11 December 2020. This year marks the first time that the summit will be conducted via an online platform in response to the quarantine protocols brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now on its fifth year with the theme: Rebuilding Towards a Smarter and Resilient Manufacturing Summit, the Summit will once again gather stakeholders from the government, academe, industry, and various development partners to discuss pressing issues that will affect the Philippine manufacturing landscape. This year’s discussion would focus on the different government policy responses to contribute to the recovery and resiliency of the manufacturing sector and the role of digital transformation and technology in contributing to the further growth of the sector.

Joining in this year’s Summit are distinguished industry and government leaders in the country as well as experts from international development agencies and premier innovation and manufacturing firms in the region. Among the highlights of the Summit are messages from Senator Sonny Angara, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, and Ayala Corporation Chairman & CEO Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.

The Summit is designed to take stock on the country’s experiences amidst the COVID-19 and aims to engage participants in a dialogue on possible ways forward. With the help of its partners, the DTI aims to sustain the collaborative spirit among the government, academe, and industry to revive the economy with the hope of ending this challenging year on a good note.

Participants and leaders of Philippine manufacturing firms are all invited to take part in the event. Likewise, academe, public sector, and non-profit organizations who are interested in the discussions are also welcome and are encouraged to tune in via the various live streaming options. The event can be viewed live via the DTI and the DTI-CIG Facebook accounts.
