Manila, Philippines—President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized 14 outstanding public and private organizations for their proven dedication to quality management and performance excellence during the 26th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Conferment Ceremony, July 17.

Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin conferred the Recognition for Mastery in Quality Management (Level 3) to five organizations and the Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level 2) to six organizations. Three organizations were conferred the Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management (Level 1).

As the highest national recognition for exemplary organizational performance conferred by the President, Secretary Bersamin emphasized the significance of the PQA for Performance Excellence. He highlighted its framework and core values in promoting continuous development and alignment with international standards.

“You have provided benchmarks that are worthy of emulation, and I expect you to be one with the government in our shared goal of advancement,” Secretary Bersamin stated. He reaffirmed the administration’s support for programs and recognitions that embody Bagong Pilipinas and urged everyone to embrace excellence and quality in all endeavors.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Fred Pascual, as the Award Manager, highlighted the critical role of the awardees in enhancing the country’s competitiveness through total quality management, productivity enhancement, and innovation.

“Your achievements directly contribute to fulfilling President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to uplift the nation. Your work aligns perfectly with and actively furthers the DTI’s core goals of “ANGAT Negosyo,” “ASENSO Trabaho,” and “ALAGAng Konsyumer,” Sec. Pascual added.

He extended an invitation to more private sector organizations to participate in the PQA Program and recognized their efforts towards performance excellence as instrumental in boosting the country’s competitiveness.

The successful assessment cycle was made possible through the collaboration with the Development Academy of the Philippines and the Philippine Society for Quality, Inc., who served as PQA Administrators for the public and private sectors. Patterned after the Malcolm Baldridge Framework of the United States, the PQA Program was established through Executive Order No. 448 in 1997 and institutionalized by Republic Act 9013 in 2001. ♦
