President Rodrigo Duterte conferred recognitions for quality management to fourteen (14) organizations thru the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during a pre-recorded Ceremony broadcasted via Facebook on 23 March 2022.
In his message as the PQA Patron, President Duterte extended his congratulations for the accomplishments of the recipients, adding that “It is my hope that the organizations continue to uphold excellence, integrity, and dedication in the work that you do as we move forward together towards building a brighter and better future for our nation.”
Meanwhile, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, being the Award Manager, expressed his pride in achieving a hit record high of fourteen (14) recipient organizations in the PQA history as a result of the agency’s intensive efforts to promote culture of excellence in the country even amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am grateful that organizations like you who committed to foster global competitiveness emerged in this opportune time. Your inclusion in the roster of Team Quality is a big boost to our advocacy.” Secretary Lopez said as he commended the recipients for serving as inspiration for others to aspire for an innovative Philippines.
“Basta marinig ang Pilipinas, ang maaalala nila dapat ay quality and excellence. Gawang Pilipinas, gawang kalidad,” he added as he thanked the PQA stakeholders for their relentless efforts for the promotion of quality and productivity to achieve a competitive Philippines.
The PQA 24th Assessment Cycle resulted to three (3) recipients of the Recognition for Mastery in Quality Management or Level 3 which include Department of Labor and Employment Region IX; Mariwasa Siam Ceramics, Inc.; and, National Kidney and Transplant Institute. For the
Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management or Level 2, the six (6) recipients include Department of Labor and Employment XI; Department of Science and Technology-CALABARZON; Isabela State University – Echague Campus; Philippine Science High School – Ilocos Region Campus; Sultan Kudarat State University; and, Tarlac State University. Meanwhile, the list of recipients of the Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management or Level 1 comprised of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College; Department of Education Schools Division Office of Balanga City; Industrial Technology Development Institute – Department of Science and Technology; Department of Science and Technology – Cordillera Administration Region; and, Marinduque State College.
Also in gracing the event were Undersecretary Rafaelita M. Aldaba who narrated the PQA accomplishments for 2021 and DTI Assistant Secretary Napoleon K. Juanillo, Jr. and Director Lilian G. Salonga who hosted the event.
Likewise, Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona took part in the ceremony and led the conferment of the PQA Regionalization Program Recognitions to four (4) pioneer organizations; Rainiers Research and Development Institute, Inc. and Construction Manpower Development Foundation from the National Capital Region (NCR) garnering the PQA Regional Levels 1 and Level 2, respectively. In Region 7 or Central Visayas, two organizations from the academic sector received the PQA Regional Level 1 Recognition – Cebu Institute of Technology-University and Cebu Technological University. The PQA Program is a global competitiveness template that aims to encourage and engage public and private organizations and other stakeholders to strive for and attain global competitiveness with PQA for Performance Excellence or Level 4 as the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance. ♦
