PASAY CITY – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Fred Pascual underscored the invaluable contribution of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) to the Philippines’ socioeconomic development during its 70th Anniversary Gala Night held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, on 09 March 2024.
“In a world driven by relentless change, the Federation’s unwavering commitment to entrepreneurship and its profound philanthropic spirit has been nothing short of inspirational. Your initiatives, extending far beyond the confines of commerce and into the very essence of social welfare, underscore a truth we hold dear—that the well-being of our people is the foundation upon which economic success is built,” Secretary Pascual said.
The DTI chief also highlighted the Federation’s Operation Barrio School, particularly the recent donation of a public-school building in Barangay San Roque, Iligan City. He added the Federation’s crucial role in assisting industries to navigate the complexities of the evolving global market while driving economic growth and sustainable development for all.
In line with the event’s theme of “Dugong Tsino, Pusong Pinoy,” the DTI secretary called for a strong private and public partnership between the government and the Filipino-Chinese business community in addressing environmental and technological challenges. He also called for a concerted effort to promote inclusive growth built on trust, cooperation, and the pursuit of excellence.
Recognizing the need for collaboration in uplifting the underprivileged and marginalized sectors in the country, Secretary Pascual emphasized, “Tonight, we celebrate the past achievements and the promising horizon that awaits us. As the Secretary of Trade and Industry, I pledge to continue supporting the Federation’s initiatives, reinforcing our shared goals, and striving towards a future where economic prosperity and social welfare are the dual pillars of our nation’s progress.” ♦
