OTOP Assembly and Assessment 2022

The Department of Trade and Industry – Quezon Provincial Office conducted the OTOP Assembly and Assessment for the year 2022 on January 20, 2023, via Zoom.

The activity officially started with Opening Remarks given by BDD – Division Chief Anna Marie V. Quincina and was followed by the presentation of the accomplishment report for the year 2022 given by TIDS/TPO Honeylee O. Eclavea.

Mr. Antonio Hachaso of Tonio’s Sisig (OTOP 2020) and Mr. Rommel Forbes of Em-Ar Handicrafts (OTOP 2021) shared their OTOPreneurs’ testimonies to inspire all OTOPreneurs on how the program helped their respective products and company as a whole. Mr. Hachaso shared how the new packaging helped his sisig with a 50% increase in sales, and this helped with the construction of their new processing building. Meanwhile, Mr. Forbes shared that through the new design given under OTOP, his tireless trade fair and event participation opened the opportunity to get new clients and be one of the suppliers of Go Lokal!

After the testimonies, an OTOP assessment and an open forum were also conducted to know the current situation of the OTOPreneurs, what their needs are in terms of training/assistance and lastly, to hear out the suggestions regarding the program. The assessment was conducted online, and a Google Form was provided for MSMEs to complete prior to the program. The information collected will be used to formulate OTOP programs and assistance for the year 2023.

Also, seven MSMEs were awarded as Top Performing OTOPreneurs (Food and Non-Food categories) for the year 2022. They were selected for their compliance with the submission of reports, trade fair and webinar participation, compliance with different certifications, and most importantly, those who used the label design provided under the program. The following MSMEs were awarded:

The assembly ended with a closing remark given by CTIDS Anna Marie V. Quincina was participated by sixty-six (66) active OTOP MSMEs from 2017 to 2022.
