On 2 December 2020, the Undersecretary of the Industry Development and Trade Policy Group of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Dr. Ceferino Rodolfo; Director Lanie Dormiendo of the Board of Investments – International Investment Promotions Services; and, Vice Consul Commercial and Commercial Attaché Roberto B. Mabalot, Jr. met with the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) representatives namely: CEO George Leung; Lt. Col. Nigel Collett, Chairman of the Asia and Africa Committee; and, other decision makers of the HKGCC. The HKGCC was updated about the investment landscape in the Philippines at present.
The CEO of the HKGCC expressed that in the next five (5) years there will be a movement to expand by companies in Hong Kong SAR to the South East Asian region; thus, the importance of the information session that was undertaken so that their members will be informed about the investment opportunities in the Philippines. Further, the HKGCC was eager to learn about the investment opportunities in the manufacturing and technology sector.
There will be continuous collaboration between the HKGCC and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Hong Kong to assist the members of HKGCC who would like to invest in the Philippines and members of HKGCC looking for suppliers.
