Twenty mentees, 12 weeks, 10 modules, 1 goal: to scale up from survival to sustainable enterprises.
This is the vision of DTI NCR in partnership with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) as it launched back-to-back Kapatid Mentor ME programs in Caloocan, Manila and Mandaluyong City this June under the Kapatid, Angat Lahat! initiative.
The Mentor Me Program is a modern-day “bayanihan” where experts in the field of Financial Management, Marketing, Human Resource and Operations Management come together to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through weekly mentoring and coaching—for free.
The module is strategically designed to intensely emphasize the fundamentals of business management: (1) The Entrepreneur; (2) The Enterprise; and (3) Sustaining the Enterprise. DTI and PCE will work with the mentors to assist scholars with their coursework and as well as in developing their Business Development Plan which they must demonstrate to a panel of experts at the end of the training to graduate.
KMME in Manila
June 16, 2017—Over 200 Manileños came together for the Kapatid Mentor Me program at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros. The city of Manila, home to 14 percent of NCR’s total population, is reported by the National Statistical Coordination Board in 2009 to be living in poverty.
“Manila has the highest rate of unemployment, underemployment, and poverty incidence. Ang KMME ay isa sa mga tugon para mabawasan ang paghihirap ng ating mga kababayan,” Atty. Ericson Alcovendaz, Manila City Administrator, said.
DTI Regional Operations Group Assistant Secretary Blesila Lantayona asked the support of everyone for the Mentor ME Seminar which aims to spur economic activity and generate employment opportunities by empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“My appeal to Manila, scale up the operation of micro and small entrepreneurs!” Lantayona said as she challenged the Manileños to be part of the 99.6% registered SMEs enterprises accounting for the 32% of the country’s GDP.
KMME in Caloocan
Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela City (CAMANAVA) gathered at the Manila Central University (MCU) last June 15, 2017.

Malabanan and Dean Pilipino Ramos of Manila Central University (MCU), members of the Philippine Chamber Of Commerce and Industry-NCR, CaMaNaVa Mayors and representatives, and local MSMEs as a sign of support for the Kapatid Mentor Me mission to empower MSMEs.
