Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Northern Mindanao will soon be rolling out a Safety Seal Certification for business establishments to serve as a seal of good housekeeping in strictly complying with the minimum public health standards set by the government including the adoption or integration of the StaySafe.ph digital contact tracing application.
Under the Joint Memorandum Circular 21-01 Series 2021 signed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Safety Seal shall apply to all private business establishments, selected public places, and government offices.
The seal shall be displayed conspicuously at all entrance points according to prescribed dimensions and can be obtained at no cost to the establishment.
The Safety Seal can be processed through online application or by visit. For application, business establishment applicant must download the checklist, perform a self-assessment, and contact the Issuing Authority for conduct of inspection. If the business establishment is found to be compliant, the Issuing Authority will inform the establishment of how the seal will be given.
On the other hand, the Issuing Authority during its regular monitoring of business establishments may inform a certain establishment how to get a Safety Seal if the establishment is found to be compliant with the minimum health protocols and use of StaySafe.ph.
Business establishments that can apply under DTI are groceries, supermarkets, membership shopping clubs, convenience stores, construction supply or hardware stores, logistics service providers (outlets), barbershops and salons, and service and repair shops.
Eligibility requirements include compliance with registration or accreditation requirements such as Mayor’s permit, DTI or SEC registration, or DOT accreditation; use of StaySafe.ph or any contact tracing tool integrated with the same; and enforcement of the minimum public health standards.
The Safety Seal shall be valid for six months from the date of issuance, except for those issued to tourism enterprises which shall be valid for one year. It shall be renewable subject to continued compliance with the eligibility requirements but may also be revoked or reinstated.
