Aspiring entrepreneurs in Iligan City were given a powerful boost with the launch of the 2nd Batch of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) program on April 17, 2024.
The SIYB is an initiative designed to equip individuals with the skills needed to launch and grow successful small businesses. It is specifically targeted towards the youth: college students, out-of-school future entrepreneurs, and existing startups.
Ms. Rachel Jean Dejarlo-Saluta, trainer of the program, emphasized that the ILO’s Start and Improve Your Business program is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to embark on their entrepreneurial journey. With its focus on practical skills development and a supportive learning environment, the SIYB program equips participants with the tools and confidence they need to turn their dreams into successful businesses.
Meanwhile, DTI Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Jane Marie L. Tabucan expressed her enthusiasm as the program “marks an exciting new chapter for those who dream of turning their business ideas into reality.”
“Whether you’re a college student with a brilliant concept or a seasoned entrepreneur looking to refine your skills, the SIYB program is here to equip each participant with the knowledge and tools you need to thrive.” PD Tabucan said.
“The program isn’t just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about igniting the youth’s entrepreneurial spirit and fostering a vibrant business ecosystem in the city.”
With its launch in Iligan City, the ILO is committed to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in the city, creating jobs, and driving economic growth.
The SIYB training program was participated by 20 youth existing and potential entrepreneurs. It uses a blended learning approach to ensure participants gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to navigate the challenges of the business world. ♦
