NORTHERN MINDANAO – Cagayan de Oro-based Interior Designer Nicole Cabanlet continues to penetrate the global market with her intricate Filipino designs.
Last January 18-20, 2024, Cabanlet showcased the innovative designs of Indigenous.ph at the Maison&Objet, a premier design trade fair in Paris, France.
Among the exhibited pieces that garnered significant attention was Cabanlet’s masterpiece—the mesmerizing collapsible and modular hanging lamps. The lamps boast a sophisticated multi-layered bamboo-ringed frame, drawing inspiration from ancient post figures. These are available in two distinct varieties—leatherized white abaca cogon-based handmade paper for a contemporary touch and pressed coco coir for a rustic aesthetic.
Following closely to this success, Cabanlet presented the designs of Oro Handmade Innovations, Inc., as one of the exhibitors in the DESIGNPhilippines Pavilion in Ambiente.
Ambiente is the largest international trade fair for consumer goods which focuses on design, tableware, gifts and home décor. It was held in Frankfurt, Germany on January 26-30, 2024.
Oro Handmade is based in Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental and known for creating sustainable products using abaca fiber, pineapple leaves, bamboo, and rattan.
Cabanlet, who is also the Principal Interior Designer of the Nicole Cabanlet Designs, recently graduated from the OBRA Design Masterclass Program of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Program of the Philippine Trade Training Center – Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA) on March 8, 2024.
