DAVAO CITY – In celebration of this year’s Consumer Welfare Month (CWM), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) inDavao Region will conduct once again the regional 2018 Quiz Bee and Poster Making Contest on its third year at the New City Commercial Center (NCCC) Mall Buhangin, Davao City on October 26.

With the theme “Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer,” the CWM celebration seeks to address the issues and challenges in buying products and services online.

The Quiz Bee and Poster Making Contest are region-wide competitions to be participated in by Junior High School (Grades 7-10) students, both from public and private institutions. The main objective is to properly inform and actively involve the students on the various consumer welfare and protection programs of the government through a strong partnership with them.

The activities target to enhance the high school students’ awareness on their rights and responsibilities as consumers, fair trade laws, and government regulations.

The DTI’s provincial offices in the region will be represented by the contestants/students, coaches and schools from Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental and Compostela Valley.

The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes for both Quiz Bee and Poster Making Contest will be done immediately after the conduct of the competitions on the same day.

“While we regularly work with businesses in the issuance of permits and licenses, we believe that these activities make it easier for us to reach out to our future leaders, our students and show the importance of their rights and responsibilities in their day to day lives,” DTI-Davao Regional Director Maria Belenda Q. Ambi said.
