The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 conducted a free webinar on Latte Art Making on 29-30 September via Zoom and Facebook live.

This was participated in by 402 baristas, coffee shop owners, and coffee stakeholders.

This webinar is the third and last module of the coffee webinar trilogy with the theme “Bukas ang Kape… May Bukas sa Kape”, to instill awareness to young coffee stakeholders of the vast income opportunities in the coffee business, particularly in establishing coffee shops.

“We are grateful in the coffee industry that amidst the pandemic we are facing now, the love of people for coffee and the demand did not decline, instead it remains strong, and even growing. That is why we are conducting this webinar to make sure that we can satisfy the expectations of the coffee lovers not only in the region but throughout the country,” said DTI Quirino Provincial Director (PD) Ma. Sofia Narag, Supervising Director for Coffee.

Moreover, OIC Regional Director Juliet Lucas, DTI-Cordillera Administrative Region, and National Industry Cluster Coordinator for Coffee, highlighted that it is the owning of expertise that matters most in latte art-making.

“Inclusive business development is one of the priorities because it drives prosperity and sustainability,” added RD Lucas.

She also underscored that coffee is dubbed as the tree of peace and friendship because it is a calmer and pacifier.

To help our coffee stakeholders to be more competitive locally and globally, the DTI R2 is implementing various activities that will enhance the competitiveness of our coffee farmers and their products.

DTI R2 strives to improve the quality of coffee being produced in the region to draw closer to the market trends and prospects.

Furthermore, topics of free pouring and etching, making good espresso and steamed milk, proper use of a steamer, and different tools and equipment needed in 3D latte art were discussed and demonstrated by Ms. Vanessa M.
