Piat, Cagayan— In response to the pressing need for enhanced productivity and streamlined operations in today’s competitive business landscape, the Department of Trade and Industry Cagayan Provincial Office, under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (DTI-CARP), spearheaded a transformative training initiative on “Improving Productivity through 5S” on 24 April 2024 at Brgy. Villarey, Piat, Cagayan.
This initiative aimed to equip the 20 member participants, processors, and officers of the Villarey Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative with essential tools for workplace organization and waste reduction.
Led by Ms. Melegrina P. Turingan, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist and CARP Regional Coordinator, the session was focused on the core principles of Japan’s renowned 5S methodology: Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Standardize, and Self-Discipline. Participants gained insights into the manifold benefits of 5S practices, including minimized downtime, heightened safety standards, improved product quality, and boosted employee morale.
Ms. Turingan showed a crafted 5S Implementation Plan tailored specifically for the CARPreneur context, serving as a roadmap towards operational optimization and maximal productivity attainment. The presence and support of Mr. Andre M. Abique, the CARP Provincial Coordinator of DTI Cagayan, as the facilitator, contributed to the success of the training. Equipped with newfound knowledge and concrete action plans, participants are ready to achieve operational excellence and sustainable growth. ♦
