The collaboration between the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Health goes beyond COVID–19.

May Jane Abuso of the DTI Negosyo Center Uyugan in Batanes teamed up with the Rural Health Office to inspect the business enterprises in Barangays Kayvaluganan and Kayuganan in Uyugan for compliance with health procedures. The crew also reviewed the BEs’ business permits and basic needs and prime commodities expiration dates.

On 7 February 2022, 10 retail stores and two food service establishments were visited, while the team went to nine retail stores in the barangays of Itbud and Imnajbu on 8 February 2022.

Food items that expired were collected and store owners were reminded to verify the expiration dates of food items in their inventory to guarantee the safety of their customers.

The monitoring of enterprises by the Uyugan DTI-DOH team is a regular activity that takes place every quarter.

The Municipality of Uyugan, Batanes is located in the province of Batanes, on the island of Batan. Itbud, Imnajbu, Kayvaluganan, and Kayuganan are the four barangays that make up the municipality, which has a land area of only 16.28 square kilometers and a population of 1,380 people. ♦
