CAGAYAN VALLEY — On 3 May 2023 | Geared towards the goal of forwarding Cagayan Valley products globally, DTI Region 2, in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government of Quirino, led by Governor Dax Cua, prepares Quirino MSMEs for international fairs through the conduct of product and firm assessments of prospective exhibitors for 2023 Manila FAME and 2024 Ambiente Fair in Germany.

This activity is a follow-through of the AMBIENTE Benchmarking and Intelligence Missions conducted in Germany early this year, where the PLGU is one of the participants.

Furthermore, this aims to strengthen the MSMEs’ plans to penetrate more opportunities and gain market exposure in the global market, specifically in the 2024 AMBIENTE fair and this year’s Manila FAME.

Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, together with the team from DTI R2-Quirino and the Small, Medium, Enterprise Development Division (SMEDD) commenced the two-day assessment activity, visiting four pre-identified MSMEs from the municipalities of Saguday, Cabarroguis, and Diffun.

RD Leah provided inputs to further enhance the products of the visited firms. Specifically, she encouraged them to undergo advanced training on finishing techniques and participate in intensive product development to enhance product quality and designs that are responsive to market preferences.

Moreover, on the second day of the event, 4 May 2023, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2, led by Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Quirino headed by Provincial Governor Dax Cua, concludes the two-day product assessment in Quirino Province by visiting seven (7) pre-identified MSMEs in the municipalities of Nagtipunan, Maddela, and Diffun, Quirino.

The assessment was conducted to identify the best products of Quirino MSMEs that have the potential to showcase the province’s creativity and innovation in the international market by evaluating product quality, functionality, and marketability. It also involves a comprehensive analysis of various aspects of a product, such as its design, packaging, and pricing.

RD Leah encouraged the visited MSMEs to further enhance their products by integrating the different trends without sacrificing their unique identities to meet the demands of the global market and ultimately increase their sales and revenue by participating in international fairs such as the 2023 Manila FAME and 2024 Ambiente Fair in Germany.

The assessment was a significant step toward promoting the growth and success of Quirino’s MSMEs. By identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, DTI R2 and PGO Quirino can provide the necessary support to help these companies reach their full potential and thrive in the international marketplace. ♦
