To help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) step up in defining their market strategies and strengthen their competitiveness in both domestic and global markets, the Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 conducted a webinar on Domestic and Export Marketing Plan Preparation on 15 September via Zoom.

This webinar aimed to upskill the MSMEs in identifying the products that can successfully fit into and study their desired market, and define marketing strategies to find buyers amidst the pandemic.

DTI Regional Director (RD) Leah Pulido Ocampo, in her message delivered by Ramil Garcia, Division Chief of DTI-SME Development Division, emphasized the significance of boosting the export marketing. She also highlighted the assistances and initiatives of the agency in widening both domestic and international market opportunities, and taking advantage of the enormous market opportunities offered by exports.

“This webinar provides a guide for MSMEs across the region in their journey to export and assist them to have a clearer timeline in each of the necessary activities in order for them to reach the export market. It is also a strategy to instill to the MSMEs the importance of their involvement in planning their marketing activities. This allows them to appreciate the steps as well as the needed market requirements until they will reach their target markets,” Dir. Ocampo remarked.

As the resource person, Dennis A. Orlina, DTI-Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) Consultant, presented the objectives and values of a marketing plan. Likewise, he discussed the different strategies and the elements in developing domestic and export plans, and gave tips and plan templates.

In her closing message, Desiree S. Angolluan, Regional Marketing and Promotions Unit Head, recognized the active participation of the attendees and highlighted the continuing commitment of the agency to empower MSMEs by providing proper interventions to strengthen competitiveness amidst the pandemic.

“We hope that through this training, you will be guided on your marketing strategies and will assist you in coming up with a better business model and marketing plan that will ensure that your businesses will move in a successful direction,” she expressed.

DTI R2 looks forward for MSMEs to take advantage of these opportunities and continually strive to improve the quality of products to step up into export marketing.

The said activity was participated by 66 MSMEs from Cagayan Valley and Trade Promotion Officers of DTI Region 2. ♦
