14 young entrepreneurs from the Province of Isabela have successfully completed and presented to the panel of evaluators their strategic Business Model Canvas during the first leg of the Youth Entrepreneurship Program: Be Your Own Boss (YEP! BYOB) of the DTI R2 in partnership with the City Government of Santiago, held in Santiago City on September 25–28, 2023.
The aspiring and existing young entrepreneurs completed the series of mentoring sessions with a total of 18 module topics on entrepreneurship and business management that enabled them to create, design, and present their business plans and business models, which they presented to the pool of panelists with the assistance of the regional and provincial YEP Coordinators and the Negosyo Center Business Counselors.
DTI R2-STIDS Karen Amores thanked the LGU Santiago City for their full support in the conduct of the program and expressed the organization’s support for the business endeavors of the youth. She also commended the outputs of the participants during their business pitching and encouraged them to continue what they have started.
“We want your passion and your creativity to be shared with everyone, and we encourage you to be diligent in managing your businesses,” she said.
On the other hand, the LGU Santiago Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), represented by Mr. Abdulmoin Halim Panglima, expressed his sincere gratitude for the success of the partnership between DTI and the city in this pilot run of the project.
“For the rest of the year and the coming year, we have aligned activities focused on the economic development of the youth here in the City of Santiago,” he said.
During the business pitching, the participants were grouped into two teams for the simultaneous presentations of their respective business models, where the top 2 were hailed as the best presenters and were given tokens and certificates from DTI R2.
The top 2 Best Presenters also received cash awards from the Office of Congressman Joseph S. Tan worth P5,000.00 each as assistance and capital to improve their existing businesses. They are Ms. Joey Crisan Landingin and Ms. Nangelie May Antonio.
Moving ahead, the Provinces of Cagayan, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya, will kick off the program for the Indigenous Peoples Youth in November this year.
