The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 recently launched the Isang Milyong Litrong Gatas during the Great Cagayan Valley Region 3rd Dairy Business Conference on December 17, 2016 at the Activity Center, Brickstone Mall, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
This year’s business conference with the theme “Sustaining Rural Dairy Industry through Innovation and Value Addition” was attended by more than 150 stakeholders composed of Dairy Farmers, Processors, Traders, Input Suppliers, Academe, Students, Regional Line Agencies, DTI 2 key officials, and Local Government Units.
Alongside with the launching, products of dairy enterprises were also displayed, and regional and national diary experts were also invited to share their new technologies, and green practices.
DTI Region 2 through the leadership of former Regional Director Atty. Ma. Esperanza C. Bańares, initiated the institutionalization of the Regional Dairy Congress in the region, in partnership with other government line agencies and the Cagayan Valley Federation of Dairy Cooperatives.
Among the cluster’s notable accomplishments include the provision of the Shared Service Facilities, conduct of local and international benchmarking missions, quality improvement, and certification, introduction of the Blending Inclusive Growth with Dairy Rural Industry Value Enhancements for Raised Sustainability (BIG DRIVERS), and conceptualization of the Regional Dairy Congress.
The Dairy Industry Cluster team targets a total of 1 million-liter production for 2017.
