The Local Government Unit of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya together with Ms. Rowena F. Mayangat, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist (STIDS) of the Department of Trade and Industry Nueva Vizcaya, attended the Local and Regional Economic Development (LRED) Benchmarking held at Baybay City, Leyte on May 10-12, 2017.
The objective of the benchmarking is to uphold economic growth and employment generation by mobilizing people and making them work together. Thus, the participants to the Benchmarking Mission will have a better appreciation of the LRED approach in planning and economic development.
“We started LRED Upscaling in the year 2005” – Ms. Josie Granada stated.
She also shared their LRED experience and how it helped Baybay City attain its economic status now.
The Shared Service Facility and Bottom Up Budgeting projects given to Visayas State University (VSU) were visited. Among these were Jackfruit Processing Project, Rootcrops Processing, Dairy Processing and Macapuno Processing. They also visited the SC Global Foods Manufacturer – exporter of organic coco water and Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO).
On May 11, 2017, the participants from Nueva Vizcaya visited Ormoc City and privileged to see some of its technological resources used to promote and improve Local Business and Investment Climate.
About Thirty-five (35) participants from LGU-Bambang and representative from DTI REGION 2 participated in the benchmarking activity. At the end of event, they have agreed on Institutionalization of LRED, align and enroll LRED in local plans and monitoring of LRED plans in the municipality of Bambang.
