Makati City, Manila —  Among the 51 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide, three from Nueva Vizcaya were chosen to participate and represent Region 2 in the Sustainable Practices and Reporting Kickoff (SPARK) Series: Training for MSMEs last 14 June 2024 via Zoom and 21 June 2024 at Makati City, Manila.

This selection follows their successful completion of the online course on Introduction to Sustainability Reporting and subsequent qualification based on the final results of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) course and the Interest Check Survey.

The SPARK Series training aims to equip MSMEs with essential skills in communicating non-financial performance and progress through sustainability reporting. It seeks to boost the competitive edge of MSMEs by enhancing their sustainability performance and advocating responsible business practices. By the end of the project period, participants were expected to produce their first sustainability report.

This initiative is part of a 5-year partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), established in 2023 under the “Embedding Sustainability in the Value Chain of MSMEs Project.”

The selected participants from Nueva Vizcaya were:

Micro Enterprise via Zoom

– Ms. Melanie Mamuric, Hot Heads Food Products

Small Enterprise via Face-to-Face Training

– Ms. Maricel Taplan, MushroomCreations

– Ms. Eden Bunuan, Twin Food Products/Tiongson Integrated Farm

Additionally, aside from the participants from the NCR, the two MSMEs from the province who participated in the face-to-face session were the only delegates from Luzon.

These MSMEs will now embark on a journey to improve their sustainability practices and reporting, positioning themselves as leaders in responsible business practices within their community.
