TAYABAS, QUEZON — Recently, the Department of Trade and Industry – Quezon, through PD Julieta L. Tadiosa, Ms. Anna Marie V. Quincina (CTIDS, BDD), and Mr. Lawrence Joseph L. Velasco (CFIDP-Project Coordinator), conducted an ocular visit to check the facilities of the Research Coco-Laboration Beneficiaries in Tayabas (Samahan ng Magniniyog at Maglalambanog ng Wakas at Ibabang Nangka (SAMAWIN) and Unlad Saka Association of Coconut Farmers and Land Owners Inc.), Lucban (Samahan ng Magniniyog ng Tiawe), Tagkawayan (Tagkawayan Vendors MPC), and Padre Burgos (Yakap at Halik MPC).

The visit aimed to assess the facilities and determine the needs of the beneficiaries in terms of upgrading and improving their coco-based products, such as coco sugar, coco vinegar, coco catsup, buko juice, coco sauce, VCO, mayonnaise, and coco jam, among others. It was also an opportunity to identify potential market linkages for the beneficiaries’ products.

During the ocular visit, the CFIDP Team interacted with the beneficiaries and conducted consultations to understand their production processes, challenges, and opportunities. The teams also provided recommendations on how to improve the facilities and enhance the quality of the products.

The ocular visit was part of the government’s efforts to support the growth of the coconut industry and provide livelihood opportunities for coconut farmers and processors. By partnering with the beneficiaries and working together to address their needs, the Department of Trade and Industry – Quezon hopes to contribute to the economic development of these communities and improve the lives of the coconut farmers.
