CPCC Tayabas City conducted the Year-End Convening Session on December 21, 2021, at the Balilo Event Center. The council started its first convening session last 20 August 2021, in response to Tayabasin consumers’ concerns when it comes to ensuring that the prices of basic and prime commodities are stable.
With the support of LGU – Tayabas City, CPCC programs were launched, such as tapping the City Information and Community Relations Office (CICRO) as the centralized hotline for consumer concerns, and the launching of Bantay-I, an e-portal where price issuances and consumer advisories are posted for public viewing, among others, paving the way to effective initiatives suitable for Tayabas City.
The year-end convening session commenced with Consumer Advocacies entitled: “Stay Safe in Online Transactions (Consumer Awareness Info Advocacy)” and “Bantay Presyo: Produktong Pasko“. These consumer advocacies were discussed by Ms. Lani O. Constantino, OIC-CPD, of the Consumer Protection Division.
Tayabas City Mayor Ernida Agpi Reynoso, Chair of CPCC, was also present during the convening session and extended her congratulatory greetings for the job well done by the council.
At the end of the meeting, ways forward for the council’s accomplishments were discussed, such as the following: (1) presentation of the Year-End report to the council; and (2) conducting a random price monitoring in selected stores, to be conducted by the members of the permanent and alternative members of the Price Monitoring Task Force, namely: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Negosyo Center Tayabas City, Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Office of the City Agriculturist (OCA), City Veterinary Office (CVO), and the Office of the City Public Market Administrator (OCPMA) to be scheduled on 22 December 2021, Wednesday. ♦
