PANGIL, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) continues its provision of seminars/trainings in partnership with other government agencies.
On July 28, 2023, DTI-Laguna through its Negosyo Center in Pangil and in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Local Government Unit of Pangil conducted a Seminar on Financial Literacy, Business Management and Basic Bookkeeping cum Consumer Education at Brgy. Galalan, Pangil, Laguna.
The program commenced with an opening prayer followed by the first topic which was discussed by the Negosyo Center Business Counselor of Negosyo Center Pangil, Ms. Danica R. Briones. The participants were equipped with knowledge and information on consumer rights and responsibilities which should be practiced and exercised by every consumer. Briones also discussed Basic Business Management and provided comprehensive knowledge about the fundamentals and significant principles of business management.
Afterwards, Ms. Andrea Mae I. Macuha, Negosyo Center Business Counselor of Negosyo Center Pakil, discussed the concept and definition of financial literacy and money management. Macuha also shared the difference between needs and wants, factors affecting money decision making and some tips and things to consider in making a wise decision on money matters.
For the last topic, Ms. Rica Mae E. Garcia, Negosyo Center Business Counselor of Negosyo Center Majayjay, discussed the organizational financial management, such as managing and documenting the enterprise’s money, as well as grasping and describing bookkeeping. The participants were also given an activity where they practiced recording in a cash book (money in/money out record).
To end the program, a closing message for the participants was delivered by the Barangay Chairman of Brgy. Galalan, Hon. Josephine C. Taniegra.
A total of 37 beneficiaries of DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program in Brgy. Galalan, Pangil, Laguna participated in the said event. The participants were already awarded grant that serves as the seed capital fund for their business.
Overall, the seminar has been a success and received positive feedback from the attendees. ♦
