Sharing the same belief that the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) contribute largely to the future of Philippine export, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA partnered with DHL Express to organize the Going Global: Export Opportunities and Logistic Solutions for MSMEs in MIMAROPA virtual information session.

The session was open to participants not only from MIMAROPA but from other regions as well, to know more about the right logistics and export solutions fit for MSMEs. Around 69 participants from both the public and private sectors joined the half-day virtual activity on 7 December 2021.

Jeffrey Francisco, Business Development Manager of DHL Express Philippines Corp. facilitated the discussion on Cross-border e-Commerce. His extensive presentation covered essential insights on, e-Commerce Landscape, Opportunities for MSMEs: Why expand overseas, B2B e-Commerce: Future-Proofing Manufacturer’s Businesses, Considerations before Exporting Regulatory, Duties, and Taxes, Packaging, B2C e-Commerce Steps to Take: Growing your Business Online, and Impact of Express Shipping on Customer Experience.

In his opening remarks, DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Joel B. Valera expressed that a robust logistics network will bridge the gap of the region’s unique archipelagic setup. “Our MSMEs in MIMAROPA have big potentials as exporters of high-value products and services, so we need the best partners to improve the region’s logistics landscape.”

DHL Express is the global market leader and specialist in international shipping and courier delivery services. This virtual information session is conducted in line with the National Exporters’ Week, and the mutual cooperation between the Department and DHL Express.

“We are grateful for their (DHL) efforts in reaching out to our MSMEs. I believe that their B2C and other inclusive business models are great opportunities for small businesses,” said DTI MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque in his closing message. He reminds the participating MSMEs to not lose sight of their market, even in cross borders.

This activity is a follow-through of the recently concluded activities of DTI MIMAROPA on e-Commerce and digitalization for MSMEs. ♦
