The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna through Negosyo Center Paete and in partnership with LGU-Paete conducted an SME Roving Academy (SMERA) entitled “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program and Services Orientation, Entrepreneurial Training-Seminar, and Consumer Education” in relation with Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (DTI-PPG) Program which aims to a livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program for micro-enterprises, with priority in areas affected by fire incidents and other calamities, including health disasters such as pandemics for the potential and existing MSMEs of their fellow barangay.

The goal of this activity is to capacitate PPG beneficiaries through the provision of information on DTI Programs and Services, entrepreneurial training, and knowledge on how to start their business effectively. And provide the necessary guidelines and procedures in setting up a business.

In order to help PPG beneficiaries and entrepreneurs learn more about how to set up a business and what are the programs and services of DTI can help businesses grow and be competitive, the Negosyo Center Paete conducted a SME Roving Academy (SMERA) entitled “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) Program and Services Orientation, Entrepreneurial Training-Seminar, and Consumer Education”.

Before the seminar started, PPG Coordinator Joemarie C. Valizado facilitated the opening prayer and acknowledgment of guests and participants, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Mr. Christian Ted O. Tungohan of DTI Laguna delivered his welcome message to the participants and guests. He emphasized the importance of the said activity to the participants, especially during the surge of pandemic many had lost their jobs and started to engage either in the food business or online business. Then, NCBC Nicols Consignado discussed the different programs and services of DTI. Followed by Joemarie C. Valizado who delivered the important details about the program (PPG) Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa. Tungohan discussed the Consumer Welfare and Protection, SME Development Programs and Services, and Market Development. And NCBC Apple Fatima R. Plopino discussed the pros and cons of starting a business. She gave a step-by-step guide namely: 1) analyzing one’s self; 2) analyzing the business environment; 3) selecting the form and type of business; 4) generating a concrete business plan; 5) sourcing of capital; 6) identifying government and non-government agencies for assistance; 7) selecting business location; 8) registration of the business and 9) hiring and training of employees.

The recently conducted seminar of the Negosyo Center Paete was attended by a total of 31 PPG beneficiaries. ♦
