CALAMBA, LAGUNA — The Laguna Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department (CLDD) of the City Government Unit of Calamba, held a seminar on quality customer service combined with consumer rights and responsibilities under DTI’s SMERA Program or the so-called Small, Medium Enterprises Roving Academy. This was held at the CLDD Training Center, Mercado de Calamba, Brgy. 5, Calamba City, last June 15, 2023.

SMERAs are facilitated by Negosyo Center Business Counsellors in line with the mandate of the Negosyo Center to hone the potential and existing entrepreneurs in their respective businesses. Negosyo Centers also help improve ease of doing business and aim to facilitate growth for the micro, small, and medium enterprises. Moreover, these one-stop shop centers assist entrepreneurs in improving their capabilities by providing them with different assistance suitable for their respective businesses and linking them to seminars, training, and programs related to setting up a business, marketing, financial literacy, and more.

Aside from its thrusts to develop existing and potential entrepreneurs in setting up their businesses, providing consumer education is also a part of DTI’s advocacy for business and consumer protection. It focusses on increasing public awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities and other trade and industry laws.

With the abovementioned, DTI Laguna and CLDD Calamba City partner in promoting a culture of entrepreneurship among Calambeños. Also, part of this partnership is the provision of business consultancy about updates on the current trends in the market aside from the provision of sustainable livelihood programs to Calambeño entrepreneurs and cooperatives.
