As part of the celebration of Youth Week, the Department of Trade and Industry-Laguna Provincial Office (DTI Laguna), through Negosyo Centers Los Baños and Calauan, joined the Youth Empowerment Camp 2022 at Trees Hostel, Los Baños, Laguna, on 13 August 2022.

A seminar on setting-up a business cum orientation on DTI programs and services was conducted by Senior Business Counselor Jean Kristine Torres of DTI Laguna. The event was hosted by Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay San Antonio and Barangay Mayondon.

The pros and cons of entrepreneurship were first discussed, and factors to consider in establishing a business followed. Torres reiterated that entrepreneurs must be determined, open-minded, and resilient. Several aspects of choosing the place for business were then enumerated.

In addition, the business plan and its components were also explained. Afterwards, Torres gave an overview of DTI’s programs and services, specifically the step-by-step process of registering one’s business and that of Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE). The last part of the program was the workshop on making a business plan.

Several questions from the participants were entertained thereafter.

Positive feedbacks were gathered from the thirty-eight (38) youths from Barangay Mayondon and San Antonio who attended the seminar.♦
