RIZAL, LAGUNA — In partnership with the Calamba City Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) conducted a seminar entitled “5S of Good Housekeeping cum Consumer Education”.
The event was attended by existing and potential micro, small, and medium enterprises based in Calamba City, Laguna. The theme of the event was centered on helping them reduce work waste and improve productivity, quality, safety, and employee morale as well as knowing their consumer rights and responsibilities.
Two Negosyo Center Business Counsellors of DTI-Laguna served as the speakers for the abovementioned activity. Ms. Jerilyn Soriano, Keynote Speaker 1, discussed consumer rights and responsibilities. She spread awareness when these rights have been violated and also knowing what to do about it to get the appropriate redressal for the violation as well as the importance of knowing the responsibilities we have as we all buy goods or avail some kind of services to keep sustaining our lives.
Ms. Edelyn Aireen Muñoz, Keynote Speaker 2, tackled the 5S of good housekeeping. She discussed the 5S principles, a lean business methodology to keep business facility clean, safe and efficient. She also gave emphasis to the importance of applying it to create an organized business or work environment which was followed by a short activity to realize the advantages of knowing it. In addition, the participants were also informed of the process on how to implement 5S and applying it on their specific working areas.
This seminar is also part of the seminar series initiated by the Calamba City Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department which aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship among Calambeños and strengthen the cooperative movement in the city. DTI-Laguna then continuously extends its assistance to the client cooperatives thru provision of training such as the SME Roving Academy. ♦
