The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna continues to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by bringing programs, activities, and providing business development assistance closer to the people. Pursuant to the Republic Act 11469 also known as Bayanihan Heal as One Act, we are tasked to conduct Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) to areas affected by COVID-19, especially the 4th to 6th class municipality. One of the objectives of the program is the provision of “business kits” to identified beneficiaries from target barangays that will help them restore and improve their businesses.

In line with this, DTI-Laguna through Negosyo Center Magdalena, conducted the ceremonial awarding of gift certificates to the LSP-NSB beneficiaries in the said municipality on 14 March 2022, at the covered court, Barangay Salasad, Magdalena, Laguna. The program consists of 49 identified beneficiaries from six (6) barangays namely: Buo, Bungkol, Cigaras, Ibabang Atingay, Poblacion, and Salasad.

The program started with an opening prayer led by NC Business Counsellor (BC) Rica Mae E. Garcia and was followed by acknowledgment of the guests and participants. Hon. Mamerto Candelaria, Captain of Brgy. Salasad, delivered his welcome remarks to guests and participants.

Then, DTI-Laguna, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist, Arnel M. Magpily delivered his inspirational message to the participants and shared how DTI helped MSMEs reach their potential in their respective businesses. Afterward, the beneficiaries took and signed their Pledge of Commitment and immediately followed by the awarding proper. Lastly, Christian Ted O. Tungohan, DTI-Laguna, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist, gave his closing remarks to the beneficiaries who attended a series of training and seminars before receiving their preferred kits.

All the beneficiaries and the local officials were very grateful for being chosen as recipients of this livelihood program. They expressed their gratitude for this opportunity to improve the business climate in their area through DTI’s LSP.♦
