The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Rizal Provincial Office through Negosyo Center Binangonan conducted the much awaited and highly anticipated awarding of sari-sari store livelihood kits last Tuesday, 21 December 2021. This is the result of several months of entrepreneurial trainings conducted by Business Counselor Jerome Montealegre and LGU Support Staff Sunshine Elinon to hundreds of existing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with sari-sari stores from 27 Barangays of Binangonan, Rizal. The LSP-NSB is a program of DTI that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships between relevant local government units and DTI officials. Services offered under LSP-NSB include business registration, advisory service, information and advocacy and provision of livelihood kits.

Sharon F. Dioco of DTI Rizal Business Development Division hosted the activity and she gave the overview of the project and the flow of the program. In behalf of Mayor Cesar Ynares, Councilor JM Paralejas, Sangguniang Bayan Committee Chair for Trade and Industry gladly welcomed the DTI Rizal Team and the blessed beneficiaries, as well. He urged the recipients to make the most out of these “seeds” and turn them into a fruitful enterprise. He added that just as we were still in the midst of a pandemic, staying healthy is everyone’s utmost concern.

DTI Rizal Provincial Director Desiderio G. Jurado III, in his message, thanked the local government of Binangonan headed by Mayor Cesar M. Ynares in its continuous support not only to DTI’s programs and projects but also to MSMEs in the locality. He also added in his message that DTI will continue its assistance to the beneficiaries—and other MSMEs for that matter–even after they received the livelihood kits.

“This will help us most definitely in recovering from the adverse effect of the pandemic not only on our little sari-sari stores but on our lives as well. Thank you, DTI!” said one of the beneficiaries. Outpouring joy and gratitude were the consistent reaction and response from the recipients. ♦
