Tapat Kalikasan Federation Inc., a farmer’s organization with a mission to protect the environment surrounding Mt. Banahaw in Tayabas City and various farmer’s organization of Sariaya, Quezon led by Florencio C. Flores of Samahan sa Industriya ng Cacao at Pangkabuhayan, Sariaya Chapter requested for a training on Bamboo Propagation including plantation establishment and bamboo livelihood opportunities. The training seminar was held at Nawawalang Paraiso Resort in Tayabas City on 28 October 2021, for Tapat Kalikasan Federation Inc. The training was attended by 24 members of the organization. Also present during the activity was the City Cooperative Development Officer Gener T. Abordo of Tayabas City, Tayabas Negosyo Center Business Counselor Maria Edel Villadiego, and the City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Dex O. Lagunero and his staff who organized the event. After the lecture, the group headed to Brgy. Lakawan along the riverbanks for the bamboo planting demo.

On the other hand, the same training/seminar for the Sariaya group was held on 29 October 2021, at Flor and Daisy’s Agricultural Farm in Brgy. Mamala, Sariaya, Quezon. It was attended by 16 participants from various farmer’s associations in Sariaya, Quezon. Also present were the Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Nelia G. Oribe of Sariaya, Quezon and her staff and DTI Negosyo Center Business Counselor Shayne N. Batula of Sariaya, Quezon. After the lecture, a hands-on demo activity on bamboo planting followed with each participant planting their own bamboo planting stocks.

The resource speakers for the two-day activity were from the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau, led by Engr. Nilo M. Villaceran, Community Development Officer II. With him were Eunice C. Onrubia and Allen Onorio. The activities were facilitated by the DTI Provincial Bamboo Coordinator of DTI-Quezon, Ma. Graciela C. Ledesma, in coordination with the DTI Negosyo Centers of Sariaya and Tayabas, ERDB-UBRDEC, CENRO Tayabas, and the Municipal Agriculture Office of Sariaya, Quezon. ♦
