DTI Quezon has brought Digital Consumerism in the spotlight of activities undertaken in the 2021 Consumer Month celebration. A wide range of sectors and stakeholders have been reached in undertaking various consumer advocacies in the province.

The media and digital platforms that were tapped were, Radio broadcasts with Social Media Facebook live streaming, webinars reaching various sectors such as media key personalities/broadcasters group, the educational institutions, cooperatives, government and the private sectors. This audience profile became the interactive community which made the 2021 Quezon Consumer Month celebration meaningful, productive and relevant amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

On 2 October 2021, Philip Lee Oliveros over DZEL Radio Program Tinig sa Kaunlaran hosted by Nelson Singson aired the topic Consumer Protection in Internet Transactions. He cited cases filed with DTI on online transaction complaints and shared how digital consumers can avoid deceptive transactions online.

On 8 October 2021, Lani O. Constantino, OIC-Consumer Protection Division shared thru the Philippine Information Agency – Radyo Pilipinas Campus Break program the topic: Consumer Protection in Internet Transactions. The Filipinos’ Consumer Behavior’s shift to Digital transactions brought about by the pandemic was discussed. As the opportunities and risks were noted, consumer tips for online consumer protection were presented.

On 13 October 2021 a KAPIHAN session with different media representatives hosted by the Philippine Information Agency Officer Mr. Lito Giron highlighted the theme “Digital Consumers : The New Normal” in the interactions. Julieta L. Tadiosa, DTI Quezon Provincial Director was the main guest and the Consumer Protection Division Team of Quezon participated in the discussion – Lani O. Constantino, Philip Lee Oliveros and Ruel Y. Gabiola. In the Q & A portion the provision of adequate means to redress for online transactions whenever consumer have complaints was emphasized.

Held last 22 October 2021, Ruel Y. Gabiola was the guest of Radyo Pilipinas Campus Break Program co hosted by PIA’s Lito Giron. With the topic : Presyo nakita ko…Tama ba ito? (Alamin Price Tag Law), the interaction also touched on the common selling practices online of sellers and how the Price Tag Law applies. The discussion allowed the audience on Facebook live streaming and its radio listeners to understand the responsibilities of sellers and how buyers can be more wise and discerning on online transactions.

Also held on 30 October 2021, Product Quality and Safety of Products was the topic aired over DZEL Radio Program Tinig sa Kaunlaran with Philip Lee Oliveros asguest. Nelson Singson who hosted the program over the radio, noted how important this information was for the consumers to understand their rights for quality and safe products to build confidence and trust among consumers. ♦
