DOLORES, QUEZON — The Department of Trade and Industry Quezon, represented by TIDS Jaryz Eden Lloce and TIDA Ma. Angelica Holgado, participated in the public hearing conducted by the Sangguniang Bayan of Dolores, led by the Municipal Vice Mayor, Hon. Renato B. Alilio, Jr., for the proposed municipal ordinance supporting the Buy Local Advocacy Program (BLAP), last Friday, February 10, 2023, at the SB Session Hall, Dolores, Quezon.
The presentation of the proposed ordinance was facilitated by Hon. Binday Patuloy, Chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, together with her Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Arjay Angeles. One of the stated policy objectives of this ordinance is to utilize at least ten percent (10%) of every LGU Dolores Department on their Approved Annual Procurement Plan (APP) for the purchase of locally produced products and services by Dolores’ Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This encourages the direct promotion and development of local entrepreneurs while nurturing a sense of community and keeping money in the local economy by supporting locals.
The session was followed by an open forum, where the public raised their concerns and inquiries about the proposed ordinance. All queries and issues were successfully discussed with the help of DTI Quezon representatives and the chairpersons of the session, who provided clarifications to the public.
The Public Hearing was attended by honorable members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Negosyo Center Business Counselor Aicel Dongon, LGU Dolores’ Heads of Office, and representative officers from the Bureau of Fire (BFP).
The enactment of the proposed ordinance aims to create a positive impact on the town’s local economy through the much-needed boost of its MSMEs. It is also expected to increase the sales and distribution of local goods through information-based campaigns and tie-ups with manufacturers, industry associations, retailers, local government units (LGUs), and government organizations. ♦
