Pursuant to RA 11310, “An Act institutionalizing the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program“, stating that the qualified 4Ps beneficiaries shall be given priority to avail the entrepreneurial projects or similar programs offered by other government agencies. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as one of the partner government agencies, will support a whole-of-government approach that involves social welfare services and poverty alleviation programs.

The DTI, through Negosyo Center-Catanauan, conducted the Seminar on Basic Financial Management for existing 4Ps beneficiaries under the Sustainable Livelihood Program associations in Catanauan, Quezon. It was held on July 27, 2022, at the Centropen Hotel, Catanauan, Quezon. It was attended by group association officers from different barangays, such as Brgy. Anusan, Brgy. Cawayanin Ibaba, Brgy. Doongan Ilaya, Brgy. Madulao, Brgy. Pacabit, and Brgy. Tagabas Ibaba.

NC Catanauan Business Counselor Leah Maris S. de Imus facilitated the program. The activity was formally launched with program preliminaries. Mr. Arnel D. Llanita, Pantawid Team Leader, delivered opening remarks to officially welcome the participants. He explained the importance of the activity. He acknowledged the resource speaker and was grateful for the DTI’s continuous support of their program.

The resource person was Mr. Jerome Santes, Financial Educator from the International Marketing Group. He started an activity of goal setting for their business, then briefly defined the concept of financial management. He let the participants have an actual computation of their income and expenses, which made them realize that they could save responsibly. In addition, he also shared the strategies of the wealthy and the need for a rich mindset. He also emphasized the importance of listing business transactions.

Ms. Monica R. Ortiz, Project Development Officer-II, delivered a closing statement to wrap up the program. She urged the participants to make the most of their learning so they can effectively handle the financial aid provided for the establishment of their community stores.
