ANTIPOLO, RIZAL — Realizing the great potential of pineapple industry in the province of Rizal, the DTI – Rizal conducts Training on Standardization of Pineapple Processing in San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal last May 19, 2023. The Samahan ng mga Magsasaka ng Bayan ng Antipolo, Inc. (SAMABAI) is one of the associations assisted by the Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal (DTI Rizal) as one of its CARPreneurs and Shared Service Facility (SSF) Cooperator of DTI – Rizal that is engaged in pineapple production.

The training was participated by 12 pineapple farmers and members from SAMABAI. Together with Trade and Industry Development Specialist – CARP Kyle Christine Pascual and SSF Support Staff – Paolo Garrovillas, the participants applied their learnings from past training with the Department of Science and Technology to standardize their processing and improve the quality of their products.

The participants had a hands-on processing of their pineapples into pineapple jams and chutney. They were able to produce 20 bottles of pineapple jams and 34 bottles of pineapple chutneys. The excess pineapple peels would not go to waste because they will be processed into pineapple wine. 

The produced products will be sold to different marketing activities in the upcoming months to promote it and help SAMABAI earn profit. ♦
