RIZAL — Thirty-five participants consisting of business owners, students, and other stakeholders took part in the “IPOPHL for MSMEs” seminar conducted by the Local Government of Cardona in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal Provincial Office and the Intellectual Property Satellite Office – CALABARZON.

Municipal Planning and Development Office Janet Ramos urged the attendees to pay close attention to the day’s topic and the benefits that having registered IPs can bring not only to its owners, but also to the municipality, particularly in the Innovation pillar of the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index. DTI Rizal Business Development Division Chief Sharon Dioco gave the participants a teaser of the benefits of having their IPs registered and briefly touched on DTI Programs for MSMEs specifically the Kapatid Mentor ME, OTOP Next Gen, and CHAMPS Rizal.

After a brief introduction of IPOPHL, IP Field Operations Specialist Joel Caalaman discussed the different IP types, IP owner rights, requirements, and walked the participants through the forms and filing process. He also shared the incentive programs IPOPHL offers to MSMEs. Mr. Caalaman addressed the participants’ concerns and allowed one-on-one consultation after the seminar.
