The Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal Provincial Office (DTI-Rizal) recently conducted a two-day training and workshop on ENTREFARM Game: Basic Entrepreneurship Course for Farmers from 17-18 June 2021 at the Baliksaka Farmers Association Inc. (BFAI) in Pinugay, Baras, Rizal.
The ENTREFARM Game is part of a series of interventions on entrepreneurship development. The game is inspired by the Competency-based Economies through Formation of Entrepreneurs (CEFE) that cites experience as the best teacher. The ENTREFARM is primarily an entrepreneurship development intervention for the agri-based sector specifically teaching farmers to view farming as a business or enterprise. The entrepreneurship course for farmers revolves around the playing of the game and eventually enhances the farmers’ entrepreneurial skills.
Throughout the activity, the Baliksaka Farmers learned to properly budget and save capital and income earnings. The participants eagerly responded to the activity and freely shared their learnings and insights during the exercise. As the ENTREFARM Game was taught through “learning by doing” or through active and hands-on engagement, the farmers quickly discovered the importance of keeping accurate records and maintaining positive cash flow.
A total of 20 participants took part in the two-day event facilitated by DTI-Rizal Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Jason San Juan, Trade and Industry Development Specialist – Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Kyle Christine Pascual, One Town One Product Next Generation (OTOP NG) support staff Jane Eleazar Pasion and Daryl Andres, and Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Leah Clemente, in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform – Rizal.♦
