SARIAYA, QUEZON — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through Negosyo Center–Sariaya, Business Counselor Shayne B. Nocus, actively participated in a tree planting activity organized by the Sariaya Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., headed by Dr. Ruben De Gracia. The tree planting took place on June 17, 2023, at Brgy. Mamala 1, Sariaya, Quezon, in celebration of National Environment Month.
The purpose of the activity was to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the importance of preserving our natural resources. Before the planting, the participants were oriented by Mr. Noel Abanilla, the site manager, about the proper planting techniques, which included making holes in the ground, correctly placing seedlings or saplings, and providing adequate care for the planted trees. By planting trees, the participants aimed to contribute to the reforestation efforts in the area and mitigate the effects of deforestation. Trees play a crucial role in absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas responsible for climate change, and releasing oxygen, thus improving air quality. Additionally, the newly planted trees would help in soil conservation, preventing erosion, and promoting water retention.
The output of the tree planting event included the successful planting of a significant number of trees in Brgy. Mamala 1. These trees would serve as a lasting reminder of the collective effort made by the Sariaya Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., DTI Negosyo Center–Sariaya, and other participants to preserve the environment. ♦
