SARIAYA, QUEZON — In a meeting held on May 15, 2023, involving the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon, through its Negosyo Center Sariaya, represented by Senior Business Counselor Shayne B. Nocus, the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) OIC Ms. Marissa Pestañas, Sariaya Fiber Producers Association (SAFIPA) President Mr. Juan Espinosa, and Shangrao City Tian De He Industrial Co., Ltd., General Manager Mr. Zheng Xin Hua, the challenges faced by the Buntal processing center were addressed, and client demand was discussed. One of the primary challenges highlighted was the limited manpower hindering the center from operating at maximum capacity. During the meeting, Mr. Zheng Xin Hua, together with his interpreter, Mr. Bryan Escandor, expressed his desire for a bulk volume of Buntal fiber and related products to meet the growing demand. However, SAFIPA acknowledged the current inability to fulfill such demands due to the manpower shortage.

The stakeholders engaged in discussions regarding potential solutions to address the manpower issue, including exploring recruitment strategies, training programs, and collaborations with educational institutions to fully capitalize on market demand and opportunities. Efforts will be made to engage relevant stakeholders and government agencies to address the workforce shortage and ensure the sustainable growth of the Buntal industry in Sariaya, Quezon.

As the meeting concluded, all parties expressed their determination to find practical solutions to meet client demands and strengthen the Buntal industry’s position in the market.
