The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quezon, through Negosyo Center Calauag, in cooperation with LGU – Calauag and in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit headed by Barangay Captain Hon. Jaime C. Nicolas launched the Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) last 22 April 2022, in Brgy. Pinagbayanan, Calauag,Quezon. This program provides development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people.

The LSP-NSB was crafted to bring government services closer to the people and pave the way to inclusive growth. DTI shall capacitate the Barangay Development Councils (BDCs) to provide essential business advisory or information dissemination services to MSMEs in the locality through the program. Individual packages of livelihood kits will also be provided to qualified individuals that could aid in restoring and improving their businesses that were affected by catastrophic events like natural and human-induced calamities, including health disasters such as epidemics and pandemics.

During the program, the DTI Negosyo Center Calauag Business Counselor (BC) Ma. Isabel C. Hirang deliberated on the objectives of the LSP-NSB program, DTI and Negosyo Center Programs, 7Ms of Marketing, and How to Start and Choose a Business. NC-BC Hirang also discussed consumer rights and responsibilities to educate and empower the participants. Afterward, she explained the Bayanihan CARES of Small Business Corporation (SB Corp.), a loan program for MSMEs, cooperatives, hospitals, tourism, and overseas Filipino workers’ (OFWs) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and other socio-economic reversals. She also asked some of the participants to share how their businesses thrived and adapted during the pandemic. She also encouraged the locals, along with its existing micro-entrepreneurs, who were highly devastated since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the business sector, to continue to seek other ways to sustain and improve their business by seeking assistance from DTI’s programs and services. Those participants that weren’t physically present during the event were reached through information dissemination where they also received info materials about DTI programs and services and hygiene kits inclusive of alcohol and facemask. The LSP-NSB in Brgy. Pinagbayanan was attended by 110 participants, consisting of five (5) registered MSMEs and 105 potential MSMEs.

Barangay Chairman Nicolas graced the event and encouraged the participants to comply with all the business regulations implemented. He expressed full support for DTI-Negosyo Center’s consent to the microentrepreneurs to boost economic activities in their barangay. ♦
